Heart Issues Among Young People

In recent years, Rising Incidence of Heart Issues Among Young People alarming reports have emerged highlighting a troubling trend: It is worsening a generation of youth, people, young adults who are between say seventeen and thirty-two years of age, who are now presenting with cases of heart attacks and other heart-related diseases. Being a cardiologist I am often faced with this question: why is this happening and what can be done to change it? In this paper, an attempt has been made to discuss various facets of this factor and points out preventive measures, as well as ways to create awareness about the issue.

The Evolution of Heart Health

Earlier, people used to think that heart disease only affected seniors. However, there are substantial demographic changes, improvement of the quality of the environment and changes in the level of stress, which created new challenges to the heart-health of younger individuals. To sum up, young people may obtain such diets which are uncontaining the necessary nutrients, thus they may develop the risk factors of heart disease.

3. Mental Health Struggles

The current generation is experiencing increased pressure in their lives from the academia pressure, social pressure due to the new found social media. Mental illnesses including anxiety and depression are on the rise in young people, and the conditions affect physical wellbeing. The physical effects of stress include inflammation and harm to the heart vessel. Also, clients with mental diseases may also use unhealthy ways of coping with diseases, for instance, smoking, excessive indulgence in alcohol or taking little or no exercise which increase the risks for cardiovascular diseases.

4. Substance Use

This is compounded by the increased cases of smoking, vaping and the use of recreational drugs among the young population. Tobacco in any form and in any quantity is a risk factor for heart disease and occasional use can also be a risk factor. Further, drugs like cocaine and methamphetamines may bring about sudden severe cardiovascular incident, such as a heart attack, in a person who otherwise may not express those dangerous characteristics.

5. Genetics and Family History

Before going further we should stress genetic influence does not leave out lifestyle choices. But pre-disposing factors can work contrary to the setting up of a risk, such as a heritage of heart diseases in the family. Those with certain genes may develop heart complications at a young age, and this bring out the reality that young people should go for checkup frequently.

6. Ignorance And Unknowledgeable

Heart problems seem to be on the rise among the youth, and this is because of different factors. And so by managing lifestyle diseases, mental health, education and awareness, we are in a position to reverse this trend. The society should invest its efforts into the health of children’s hearts and help them make better decisions and avoid getting cardiovascular diseases. This way we can create generation which will take care of its heart health and create a better and healthier future.
