PM Modi Lauds Three Years of the PM GatiShakti National Master Plan – Speaking in a special three-year anniversary of PM GatiShakti National Master Plan, Prime Minister Narendra Modi dwelled on what has become a new paradigm for infrastructure development in India. PM GatiShakti plan was unveiled by the Prime Minister on October 13, 2021, for overall integration and improvement in inter- connectivity infrastructure for improving economic activities. It is therefore our vision that development of both human and social capital and physical infrastructure and services will be integrated.
The PM GatiShakti venture emerged out of the idea to foster an efficient framework in eliminating barriers that interfered with most sectors’ operations. It focuses on integration of roads, rails, air, sea for economic movement of persons and commodities. Speaking to the nation in his address, Modi explained how the plan is not only about the provision of physical structures but also about bringing together the Centre and States and private players.
GatiShakti is a path-breaking concept, Modi said. It has brought together many Ministries to encourage interconnection to tackle challenges that hinder the implementation of projects.” As these three years show synergy is at work.
A Vision for Integrated Development
Out of the many progressive achievements in the past three years, the GatiShakti plan has spearheaded great projects as follows. For instance, construction of expressways and dedicated freight corridors has improved the performance of transferring goods from one state to another by shortening the time drastically and thus the costs of logistics. The PM outlined how through the launching of the Gati Shakti Portal has offered the live tracking of infrastructure projects at one interface decreasing on the likelihood of project off-tracking.

Among these accomplishments, the creation of multimodal logistics parks as a single complex that combines various transport hubs has been noted. Citing examples of projects in major areas that are already in the pipeline to recast the economy of the respective areas, Modi said that the development has already led to employment generation. “These parks are not just locations; they are enablers of economic development,” he posited.

Boosting Local Development
The prime minister also highlighted that GatiShakti is categorically helpful for regional economies. Through the provision of improved accessibility in the rural and semi-urban centres the plan has introduced new opportunities for commercial entities. Improvements in transport networks make it possible for the farmers to get to more markets and hence better their lives.
‘This is the spirit of the ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas’, Modi said, referring to the village development plan. The government has ensured that the growth it is creating through investment is spread in a proportional manner across the country through infrastructure.
Sustainable Development of Concept in Focus
Introducing and implementing the GatiShakti plan, yet another sustainable pillar is central to its strategic approach. This was underscored by Modi when he said that the new infrastructure put in place will incorporate green technologies and practices. Green materials and products, energy-saving construction methods and non-polluting transport are all crucial elements of the drive. ”It is not business as usual; we are not just constructing as we are today but construction for tomorrow,” he noted.
Some of the projects are in line with India’s long-term goal towards net-zero emissions by 2070 under its economic vision. Extending infrastructure through solar or other renewable energy power sources is a way of trying to cut down the impact of transport and distribution.
Challenges and Future Perspectives
In the coming years, thus, Modi outlined a broad plan for the implementation of the GatiShakti scheme. He saw its role in making it broad to embrace the elements of smart city, broadband connectivity, a stable and efficient quality of life for the people. It is believed that technologies especially, in the planning and implementation of infrastructure projects will foster efficiency and innovation.
GatiShakti will be twin-wheeled with Digital India, as he said the existing infrastructure requires a bold face lift to incorporate modern application of digital tools in management and delivery of the services.
Conclusion
In his concluding remarks, PM Modi was re assurance of the government’s intent to further invest in infrastructure development under GatiShakti National Master Plan which he was articulating about. The past three years set a good basis but the actual climbing is yet to start. Being a centralised planning system that offers integrated growth, local control, and sustainability, GatiShakti should help shape India’s infrastructure for decades.
It is just logical and indicates the importance of building more integrated form of planning and execution in order to light up the future of every Indian.
