The new term of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s for the third time commonly known as Modi 3.0. It started with a very high expectation, particularly to bring out great reforms as well as increase the economy’s growth rate by 0. According to news agency ANI, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s first 100 days of his third term were impactful across many fields with special focus on Infrastructure sector, Agriculture sector, Youth employment and tribal growth. Further inside the government, several capital intensive projects which were either accomplished or initiated during this short but active regime were listed down.
Infrastructure: In as much as several factors have been named as drivers of economic growth, here is the backbone of the economic growth.
Perhaps one of the most impactful highlights of the first 100 days was the government’s ability to clear projects with a total value of ₹300000 crore, with focus on the development of infrastructure in roads, railways, ports airports among others. This investment is considered as the building block towards attaining sustainable economic development with a conviction that increasing expenditure on capital goods to ₹11. Would amount to one lakh crore in the current fiscal and people will be employed, according to government estimates.
The concentration towards developmental schemes also stretch’s to certain more specific area based development like Polavaram Irrigation Project in Andhra Pradesh for which an outlay of ₹12,100 crore has been provided for. The change therefore form part of the governmental efforts towards solution to water problems and increasing productivity in the agricultural sector in the region. Moreover, Rs 6, 350 crore was to be spent for the urban flood management & GLAFRm projects, which clearly indicates government’s paramount importance on disaster and climate change management.
Agriculture: WORLD BANK – A LIFELINE FOR FARMERS
Agriculture however was also on the spotlight during the Modi’s first 100 days with emphasis placed on the Prime Minister Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme. The scheme was featured in its 17th episode, through which, ₹20,000 crore were disbursed to 9. 3 crore farmers. Till date, the amount of ₹ 3 lakh crore has been disbursed to 12 crore people across the country with its help. 33 crore farmers. The government then gave another boost to agriculture by raising the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for Kharif crops for the 2024-25 season which was stated has helped the farmers by ₹2 lakh crore. Such steps are aimed at creating better financial stability for farmers and bringing more production efficiency to the sphere of agriculture.
Also, the Digital Agriculture Mission got passed with a budget of ₹14,200 crores were approved. Theoretically, this scheme is intended to enhance farming methods via efficiency boosting technology in the agricultural processes hence expected to transform methods of farming and productivity.
Empowering Youth: As seen in the different sub-sections in this paper, the future constitutes a continuing subject of interest and significant source of speculation.
Job creation, especially of the youths, has remained central to Modi 3. 0’s policy agenda. The government launched a record ₹2 lakh crore of package for employment of the youths and skills development. Under this, more than 41 million youth of India will get internships, financial assistance, and one-time grants in the next five years.
This package has laid provision for the internship of one crore young people in the biggest organizations along with vocational training for two crore youth. Further, the Government wants to convert 1000 ITIs into more skillful ones and has announced more than 15000 new employment. For Startup India, a dedicated fund worth ₹1,000 crore has also been created for venture capital in space sector startups and to spur the GENESIS program that will support startups in Tier-II and Tier-III cities.
Tribal Development: To my mind the book is perfectly titled because it is written, indeed, for bridging the gap.
The Prime Minister’s Developed Tribal Village Campaign was another feather added to the cap of the government as it targeted to empower marginalized sectors. In the first 100 days of the regime, Government introduced a scheme of making black money of 63,000 tribal villages affecting lives of 5 crore tribal population. Education, Health and Infrastructure development have been prioritized areas of intervention under the scheme that envisions enhancement of the socio-economic status of such communities.
Women Empowerment: Leap of Creative Advances
Women employment has been one of the major focus areas and in first 100 days of the programme Modi himself distributed certificates to 11 lakh new Lakhpati Didis (women earning more than ₹1 lakh per months). Today, more than 1 crore women have got enrolled in Lakhpati Didi yojana which shows that the government of India is seriously working for the financial independence of women. Also, the MUDRA loan amount limit for small business from ₹ 10 lakh to ₹ 20 lakh has been increased which would help women entrepreneurs to get the funding to extend their business.
Enhancing Business and Innovation Framework
As in the business and entrepreneurship sphere, Modi 3. 0 measures to boost ease of doing business have been implemented by 0 accompanied with the scrapping of angel tax and a cut in the corporate tax rates. These measures are directed to increase more investments and especially in the startup sector where the government is offering more funds through venture capital funds and innovation.
Combating Cybercrime and Security of a Country
Cybersecurity also got attention with the release of ‘Samanvay’ platform launched for safety against increasing trends of cyber crime. The manpower in cyber commandos will be developed with 5, 000 trained cyber soldiers within the next five years, and the Mobile Cyber Dost App has been launched by the government to facilitate an easy reporting of cybercrime. Besides, Cyber Fraud Mitigation Centre (CFMC) has been developed in coordination with the banks and financial institutions, making the country’s cyberspace stronger.
There is no doubt that peace and stability in Northeast are much needed and should be pursued forcefully, although it should be noted that working in this direction is not entirely hopeless.
In the political front one of the major successes was the signing of the peace accord between the centre and the NLFT and ATTF factions in Tripura. In this agreement after 35 year of conflict, 328 armed cadres relinquished their fight and reintegrated into the normal civilian life, a clear transition towards sustainable peace in the area.
Conclusion: A Productive Start
During the first 100 days of Prime Minister Modi’s third term, India witnessed a dose of both economic liberalization and social sector expenditure along with measures towards augmentation of national security. Be it the construction of roads, rail, investment in farmers, employment for our youth, development of tribal areas, for long-term sustainable growth Modi government has set the ground work while focusing on the more pressing issues of today. Having large scale projects in the offing, Modi 3. 0 has vowed to keep on steering the process of India’s evolution into a world economic powerhouse.
