A surprising case has come to light from Fatehpur in Uttar Pradesh. When the government and administration did not take any step, the women of Kripalpur village of Fatehpur started building a wooden bridge on the Rind River themselves. This village is located in the Devmai development block of Bindki tehsil, where women are building temporary bridges on the river in view of their children’s education and family needs.
Two rural women named Kalavati and Seema Devi started this initiative. She has spent 80 thousand rupees so far. The construction of the bridge is being done with the help of wood, bamboo and pole. The cooperation of the local people is also being received continuously.
Women built a wooden bridge over Rind River
The women of the village say that the Rind river comes in spate in the rain and about 300 children go to school by boat every day. There have been accidents many times. The river also has to be crossed for the needs of farm, fodder and water. The bridge was demanding for a long time, but due to the neglect of the public representatives and the government, the women themselves took this pledge.
Villagers have spent 80 thousand rupees so far
Villagers say that until a permanent bridge is built, the temporary bridge is the only support. This effort of women has now become an example for many nearby villages.
